NUTRITION CARE ASSISTANT Department Food and Nutritional Services Schedule Part time 32 (Two week Payperiod) Shift Day/Evening Salary Pay Grade 40 (Minimum hourly rate $11.76/hr) Hours VARIOUS +WEEKENDS Job Details The Nutrition Care Assistant performs a variety of duties related to receiving and processing special diet orders, to include modifying patient menus to multiple diet restrictions and preferences. Responsible for identifying appropriate menu choices for all age groups, fluid restrictions, diet restrictions, food and beverage consistencies. Minimum Education and Experience: Minimum Preferred Education: High School Diploma or GED Associates degree in Dietetics or Nutritional Science Experience: One (1) year experience in a hospitality, retail, customer service or healthcare service field; OR six (6) months nursing assistant experience; OR six (6) months food service experience within a healthcare setting. Associates degree in Dietetics or Nutritional Science may be accepted in lieu of experience requirement. Previous hospital experience with diet modifications (i.e., low salt, low fat, no concentrated sweets) Computer/Software Knowledge: Basic computer literacy Word, Excel, Powerpoint. Licensure/Certification Special Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities: * Able to calculate fluid restrictions, carbohydrate counting, and other diet modifications. * Possess excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with nursing, unit clerks. * Able to be trained in basic medical terminology, phone etiquette, conflict resolution, and inventory ordering procedures for nutrition supplements. * Food Safety Training, HACCP training * Medical Terminology knowledge * Must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
