Baystate Franklin Medical Center Baystate Franklin Medical Center (BFMC) in Greenfield, MA, is a 93-bed acute care community hospital. BFMC serves the Northern Tier of northwestern Massachusetts. Under minimal supervision, the Switchboard Operator receives & assesses requests from all major constituencies: patients, families, physicians, vendors and staff. Analyzes request and provides accurate triage using approved processes. Dispatches critical codes. Provides courteous assistance and support to patients, visitors, internal customers as well as key contacts in a 24 hour by 7 day a week setting. BFMC Scedules Interpreters, monitors security system takes appropriate action if necessary. Adheres to system and department compliance policies, and any applicable laws and regulations. In the absence of the Lead Client Service Specialist, may be assigned to assist with day to day activities of the work group. Communicate effectively with subordinates, peers and management. Provides direction, training and leads work group in a collaborate effort. * Knowledge of communication equipment such as Smart Phone, pagers, MessagePro messaging software, and computers * Relay messages, complaints and concerns from clients to supervisor or lead in a timely fashion * Paging subscribers for internal and external clients * Activates emergency code teams, disaster response team as well as stat pages * Accepts, manages, and thrives in a changing environment * Alert Engineering to OR alarms * Committed to excellence, communication, and professionalism * Gives and accepts feedback, gathers, relays and responds to information with clarity * Demonstrates sensitivity and negotiation skills * Mentors other team members * Incumbent is expected to adhere to System and Department compliance policies, and any applicable laws and regulations * Incumbent is expected to perform other similar and related duties as assigned * Management has the right to change or add to the job responsibilities at any time * Proficient in scheduling Interpreters based on requests * Proficient in monitoring Safelinc and Premysis security systems, report issues to appropriate pre-determined departments when necessary * High School Diploma * 3-5 years customer service or telephone operator experience * Computer Skills, XP, Windows 7, MAC a plus * Ability to type 35 wpm. * Must be able to effectively diagnose situations and can be entrusted to use sound judgment. * Ability to handle and resolve sensitive situations with grace, tact, care, warmth, compassion and professionalism. * Must be able to handle multiple tasks. * Ability to work in a fast paced environment. * Schedule must be flexible to respond to emergency coverage. * Able to work in a close team environment. * Posses, great organizational, verbal, and motivational, skills. * Must posseâ??s active listening skills to ensure good call quality accuracy.
