Student Intern BP Bluegrass.org 30 reviews - Nicholasville, KY Internship Position Summary: The Psychology/Social Work Intern provides clinical services for individuals and families that present for treatment in collaboration with a treatment team and under the clinical supervision of a Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Psychological Practitioner, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Services primarily include screening, intake, and assistance in monitoring and treatment planning for clients who have been determined to only need clinical services from a prescriber. Services provided by the Psychology/Social Work Intern may also include: crisis intervention and risk assessment; treatment planning and on-going assessment; client education; administrative assistance; psychological evaluation; individual, family, group and collateral therapy and referral and advocacy. Caseloads may include diverse populations with a variety of clinical needs. Qualifications required: * Bachelors degree and enrollment in a Masters or Doctoral Psychology or Social Work program * Valid drivers license, reliable transportation, and proof of current auto insurance Qualifications desired: * Experience working with individuals and families who experience various mental, behavioral, and substance abuse conditions. * Licensed Psychological Associate Major job responsibilities and essential functions: * Clinical services o Assess and integrate historical, psychosocial and medical information into a clients individualized treatment o Utilize Partners for Change Outcome Management System (PCOMS) in assessments and clinical treatment episodes o Deliver evidenced based counseling that provides effective treatment of medically necessary mental and behavioral conditions in individuals and families o Monitor the need for continuation of services and/or change in level of intensity of services o Delivers services primarily in an outpatient office but may also provide services in other locations if needed to meet the clients needs o Manage situations involving client risk and provide crisis clinical services that help de-escalate crisis situations and promote stability o Manage a caseload that may include diverse populations with a variety of clinical needs * Collaboration and communication o Collaborate with client, family (if appropriate) and treatment team to develop treatment goals o Communicate effectively with team members and collateral sources o Refer and transfer when clinically indicated o Participate in regular meetings with Clinical Coordinator and county team * Documentation o Manage medical records for clients receiving services o Secure authorizations for medically necessary clinical services for clients o Document to meet medical necessity standard. o Submit documentation within required timeframes o Assist the Prescriber in maintaining treatment plan documentation for clients who do not receive a therapy service Nonessential functions: * Perform other related duties as assigned Success factors/job competencies (knowledge, skills, and abilities): * Commitment to organization mission, vision, and values * Professional and ethical conduct * Knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to payors and client confidentiality * Successfully provide authorized care within payor requirements * Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills * Knowledge of and utilization of evidenced based psychotherapy that helps resolve mental and behavioral conditions in individuals and families * Demonstrated mastery of incorporating PCOMS with every client * Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with team members * Manages productivity expectations effectively * Completes all required trainings in requested timeframes * Stays current on best practices in clinical care Physical demands, work environment, and equipment used: The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
