This program was developed to create a dedicated position to cover weekend shifts, which are difficult to fill and create hardship when needing to be covered unexpectedly. This program has guidelines for attendance and time off to ensure that all employees benefit from the creation of this creative schedule. Applies To Mental Health Workers in designated nursing units with exemplary attendance or at the discretion of the CNO. Program Guidelines Attendance Employees with exemplary attendance will be given preference for participation in the program. Employees with attendance concerns may be admitted to the program with the approval of the CNO. Employees participating in the Special Weekend Program may be reconsidered for a more traditional schedule if they incur more than three occurrences while participating in the program. Eligible Special Weekend Program Options There are four (4) options offered in the Special Weekend Program. The number of positions and shifts available will be at the discretion of the clinical manager and the CNO. The twelve (12) hour shift options will not be available until a mechanism is created that supports 12 hour scheduling. Schedule Pay Hours for ET & Benefit Eligibility Work (2) 12 hour weekend shifts Paid bonus 24 Work (4) 8 hour weekend shifts Paid bonus 32 hours- FT benefit eligible Work (3) 8 hour weekend shifts Paid bonus 24 Work (3) 12 hour shifts* Paid bonus 36 hours- FT benefit eligible *Includes two weekend shifts plus one other weekday shift as determined by the manager Bonus hours: 8 additional hours paid per week, including weeks using Earned Time (ET). Compensation Worked hours will be paid at an employee's regular rate of pay plus any applicable differentials. Only hours worked over 40 will be paid at the Retreat overtime rate. Bonus hours paid do not include differentials. Shift Differentials Shift differentials will be paid based on current Retreat policy. Shift differentials will not be paid on bonus hours. Earned Time Earned time is accrued based on eligible hours up to an employee's base full-time equivalent and length of service per Retreat policy. Bonus hours are not included in the determination of base full time equivalent hours. Please refer to Brattleboro Retreat's Earned Time policy for specific accrual rates. Time Off Employees should obtain approval from their clinical manager to schedule earned time in advance of their desired time off, as each department may have different scheduling needs. Earned time not scheduled in advance is considered unscheduled earned time and excessive unscheduled earned time use may be subject to review under the Retreat's Attendance policy, and may jeopardize future participation in the program as aforementioned. Employees are allowed eight total weekend SHIFTS off per calendar year with no more than two weekends off in a row. Employees will be required to work ALL holidays that fall on their weekend shifts. These shifts are not eligible for time off. Benefits Eligibility Eligibility to participate in Brattleboro Retreat benefit plans is based upon the number of hours the employee is regularly scheduled to work. Bonus hours are not included in the determination of benefit eligibility. Employees working a base schedule of 32 hours on the weekend will be eligible for benefits at the Full Time rate. Job Summary: Performs nursing care responsibilities with supervision to ensure safe and consistent quality care. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Bachelor's degree in a human service related field with an emphasis on behavioral sciences OR high school diploma and preferably 2 years (minimum1 year) related experience, preferably in a psychiatric setting. 2. Excellent interpersonal skills to relate effectively with co-workers and all members of the treatment team. 3. Must have valid driver's license without any record of motor vehicle violations or convictions limiting driving privileges. (See Human Resource Employment Policy for further details.)
