    Transporter - Patient Transportation Cape Fear Valley Cape Fear Valley Health has grown from a community hospital to a 942-bed regional health system. The Patient Transport Department mission is to transport the right patient, at the right time, to the right place, with the right equipment, in the right uniform. Transporters refer to this as R5. The department is designed to enhance quality support service to patients by providing safe and timely transport with special equipment to various areas within the Medical Center, Rehabilitation Center and Highsmith-Rainey Specialty Hospital. Treatment areas and patient units rely on the department to transport patients to and from various locations. Some Transporters have received their certification through the National Association of Healthcare Transport Management (NAHTM). The Department operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Job Summary Accurately and efficiently transports patients, wheelchairs stretchers and traction equipment to and from the nursing units, and ancillary departments. Uses transport equipment correctly ensuring safety measures is adhered to. Cleans, repairs and maintains equipment for operability. Supports the philosophy of Nursing to provide better patient care. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with the mission, values and vision of Cape Fear Health System. Job Qualifications Education and Formal: High School Graduate or GED Equivalent.
