This position is responsible for performing cardiac stress testing in a safe, professional, and patient-focused manner. The Cardiac Stress Technician provides high-quality care to patients of the practice, ensuring accurate diagnostic results and a positive experience.

Essential Functions:
- Prepare patients for stress tests by explaining procedures, obtaining consent, and attaching electrodes and other monitoring equipment.
- Administer and monitor various types of stress tests, including stress echocardiograms, treadmill, nuclear, and pharmacologic stress tests, in accordance with established protocols such as Bruce protocol.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs (heart rate, blood pressure, ECG, oxygen saturation) throughout the stress test and recognize any abnormalities or signs of distress.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to interpret test results and report findings to the supervising cardiologist.
- Ensure all testing equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and in good working condition.
- Provide patients with pre- and post-test instructions, including recovery procedures and safety guidelines.
- Perform PET CT procedures for use by physicians in the diagnosing and treating of patient illness.
- Perform Nuclear Medicine/Cardiology and PET CT procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of tests, procedures, and patient information in electronic medical records (EMR) system.
- Follow all safety and infection control protocols to ensure a clean and safe testing environment.
- Assist with patient care as needed, including providing emergency care in the event of a cardiac event during testing.
- Stay current with advancements in cardiac testing techniques and certifications through continuing education.
Skills and Qualifications :
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related healthcare field preferred
- Certified Cardiac Stress Technician (CST) or Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT) preferred
- CPR/BLS and ACLS certification
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience as a Cardiac Stress Technician, preferably in an outpatient setting
- Proficient in IV starts, EKG monitoring, and cardiac stress testing protocols
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, patient confidentiality, and quality standards of care
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams
- Physical ability to assist with patient positioning, transfers, and mobility
- Valid Texas driver’s license, automobile liability insurance, and acceptable driving record
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records and patient scheduling systems
Office Hours:
- Monday-Thursday, 8 AM - 5 PM, and Friday, 8 AM - 3 PM. No weekends, holidays, or after hours.
