    As the global outbreak of COVID-19 continues to unfold, Latham has taken precautions to help protect our people, clients, and the communities where we live and work.  This includes a shift to remote working for the majority of our lawyers and staff.  This role will likely start remotely while the firm continues to evaluate the situation. 

    The Financial Analyst will receive a generous total compensation package. Bonuses are awarded in recognition of individual and firm performance. As a Financial Analyst at Latham, you will be responsible for providing financial and analytical support to attorneys for pricing and scoping engagements. You will assist firm management with financial modeling of rate alternatives, supports analysis related to rate approval and requests for proposals (RFPs), and tracks engagement budgets.  You will update and maintain rate approval tracking database, creates reports on pricing trends, and responds to other ad-hoc requests from attorneys and management, while accomplishing these and other critical functions:

    • Modeling matter profitability and providing scenario analysis to support pricing decisions for firm management.
    • Researching and identifying existing/historical firm matters that may provide a baseline for billing attorneys in developing budgets for new matters.
    • Maintaining Rate Approvals Tracking database by inputting key approval information. Creating analysis and designing reports/presentations to display pricing trends.
    • Designing templates to assist attorneys with establishing budgets.  Monitoring engagements on a regular basis and providing reports to management.
    • Liaising with Finance & Accounting Department staff and other administrative departments to ensure that the correct data is being captured and that the appropriate tools are available to provide accurate and timely reporting.
    • Analyzing client performance data to identify client opportunities.
    • Preparing recurring and ad-hoc financial analysis and reports related to client statistics and firm financial metrics.
    • Applying financial and analytical skills to create analysis and respond to various requests.
    • Utilizing Data-Mining and Database mechanisms to obtain data and then organizing the information to facilitate effective analysis and create analytical reports.
    • Utilizing Database mechanisms, Microsoft Access & Visual Basic to develop and improve reporting processes.
    • Maintaining detailed records documenting procedures and assumptions, methodologies and sources of information employed during the performance of all analytical tasks.
    • Working to ensure quality professional product, as well as delivery of all work within established timeframes.
    • Making recommendations and works with management to develop procedures, processes, and workflow to ensure maximum efficiency in the FIC department.
    • Developing standard tools for reporting and analyzing data.
    • Completing special projects on various issues as needed.
    • Maintaining professional image within the Finance and Accounting department and projects the same image to those outside of the department.
    • Supporting Rate Analysis & FIC team members in completing tasks as required.
    • Promoting effective work practices, working as a team member, and showing respect for co-workers.

    As a Financial Analyst, you will be expected to apply your organizational and communication skills while displaying a positive, high-energy attitude. The successful Financial Analyst must have the ability to work independently to research, analyze, and develop financial information. The ideal candidate will have the ability to maintain flexibility with respect to assigned tasks due to changing deadlines, changing deliverables and changing task priorities, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to learn and apply new skills quickly and effectively. The Analyst should have strong communication skills, both written and verbal, including effective interpersonal communications (e.g., active listening), general knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles and terminology, general knowledge of professional services business, and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with the appropriate discretion. Knowledge and proficiency in PC applications, including Microsoft Access, Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required, and knowledge of Visual Basic, Business Objects, 3E is a plus.

    A Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field is required. A minimum of two (2) years of related analytical experience in finance or accounting is desired. Experience responding to ad-hoc requests, developing analysis, and producing reports is desired.     MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    EDUCATION: 

    • Graduated from an accredited school of nursing with Advanced Practice Nurse Master’s Degree OR
    • Graduated from an accredited Professional Physician Assistant Program
    • Active Physician Assistant state license or Nurse Practitioner state license 
    • Active DEA license from state of practice if applicable
    • Board Certified (NP must be FNP certified for six (6) months to adult)
    • BLS Certification
    • Medical Examiners Certification for DOT physicals (ME certification may be acquired within the first 30 days of employment)

    ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Must be aware of hazardous situations and be able to provide a leadership role in emergencies as needed.
