    Job Description

    The DIETETIC INTERN is responsible for overseeing the Dietary component in tandem with their Dietary Supervisor and the Discovery Behavioral Health Clinical Model.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Completes clinical documentation throughout the course of treatment.
    • Establish therapeutic rapport with clients and families/loved ones.
    • Participates in weekly treatment team and communicates weekly treatment goals with all team members.
    • Determine and implement adequate individualized meal plan for all clients at Discovery Behavioral Health
    • Conducts a 45-minute dietary session one time/week for each client.
    • Facilitates all required groups: Dietary Exposure Group, Menu Planning Group, Restaurant Exposure Group, and in some cases, Group Cook Night.
    • Prepares Cycle Menu dinner 1-2 times per week.
    • Works with Facility Manager to complete diet tech hiring processes.
    • Supports and mentors the diet techs at the facility.
    • Manages the dietary budget each month by completing the Dietary Budget Report.
    • Utilizes the Dietary Workbook/dietary assignments and integrates ERP interventions with each client.
    • Attends scheduled supervision calls with the Director of Dietary Services.
    • Conducts dietary training when needed in the monthly staff meetings.
    • Aids in conducting bi-monthly (2 times per month) kitchen audits.
    • Ensures the dietary component follows Department of Health and Joint Commission Accreditation standards.
    • Able to lead (with a therapist in attendance) a Therapeutic Family Meal (adolescents)/Support Meal (adults).
    • Supervises and ensures rotation of emergency supply every 6 months.
    • Submits monthly expenses to the Program Director
    • Determines weight goal in collaboration with medical doctor according to protocol and implements meal plans to support the weight goal.
    • Is appropriately accessible to family members or loved ones.
    • Facilitates multi-family, family program and/or family weekend.
    • Required to sit at a meal and/or snack a minimum of 1x per week.
    • Able to present and manage cases in a knowledgeable and professional manner to make sufficient gains so that sustained post-discharge progress can occur.
    • Communicates with referral sources and outpatient providers for continuity of care upon admission, midpoint, and discharge, including the use of Discovery Connect.
    • Actively participates in clinical outreach and program tours as needed.
    • Completes all the responsibilities of the Registered Dietitian outlined in the RD Manual.

    EXPECTATIONS:

    • Familiarizes and adopts the Philosophy, Mission, Goals, and Objectives of the Center For Discovery treatment programs.
    • Must refrain from comments and actions that directly contradict Health At Every Size and the Discovery All Foods Fit model.
    • Full adherence to the Discovery Behavioral Health policies and procedures.
    • Full adherence to health code policies, Joint Commission, HIPAA and licensing regulations, including mandated trainings.
    • Full adherence to infection control guidelines.
    • Complies with Discovery Behavioral Health dress code.
    • Must demonstrate tact, initiative, resourcefulness, professional manner, enthusiasm, and non-judgmental attitude.
    • Engages in ongoing professional development, including but not limited to attending monthly staff meetings and trainings.
    • Communicates effectively and professionally with all members of the Treatment Team.
    • Has basic knowledge and ability to support Discovery Behavioral Health Clinical Model.
    • Serves as a positive role model to employees, clients, and guests through a caring and professional attitude.
    • Completes job tasks in a timely and accurate manner as assigned.
    • Be aware of and maintain professional and personal boundaries at all times.
    • Provides quality customer service in all interactions.
    • Willingness to evaluate personal processes and receive constructive feedback to remain professional.
    • Must be able to work with and communicate with persons with differing multicultural backgrounds.
    • Completes all the responsibilities outlined in the Primary Therapist manual.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree with appropriate emphasis in Nutrition and Dietetics.
    • Completion of Dietetic Internship; RD Exam eligible
    • Must have a servsafe certification in order.
    • One-year experience preferred in dietary services.
    • Must possess a current Driver’s License and be in good standing
