Media Relations Coordinator Job Locations US-FL-Temple Terrace Job ID 2018-2931 Department 8100 Corporate Communications Type Full Time Regular Overview Role: The Media Relations Coordinator serves as the point of contact for proactive media relations efforts by active promotion of stories to enhance the health system's image. The position monitors the media environment and participates in crafting and disseminating broad communications strategies, which will advance the organization and its objectives. By maintaining relationships with the media, drafting press releases, pitch letters, and other written materials, and coordinating long-lead media pitches with other departments, the Media Relations Coordinator plays a key role in influencing and educating audiences about those affected by advancing age and/or advancing illness. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field from an accredited college/university Minimum of 2 years of media relations experience Proven track record of pitching and placing stories with various media outlets Experience with media monitoring software, distribution services and online database (Vocus) Strong verbal and written communication skills Broadcast job experience a plus Video/audio production experience a plus Voice talent experience a plus Competencies: Satisfactorily complete competency requirements for this position. Job Responsibilities: Monitors incoming requests from the media and shares on-call coverage on a rotating basis with Corporate Communications staff to facilitate news media inquiries after business hours. Solely responsible for proactively identifying stories of interest that promote the Organization's mission as well as pitch news stories to appropriate outlets/reporters (traditional and social media) to strengthen and build awareness of the organization. Establishes, cultivates, nurtures, and maintains relationships with key media personnel and recommends subject matter experts when appropriate. Responsible for measurement and reporting of all media (TV, print, radio, online, social media) that helps demonstrates the department's proactive media results and implements changes based on trends and statistics. Researches and prepares patient-centered brand stories for the media based on brand messaging for each of the affiliates. Creates, maintains and disseminates all press materials, i.e. press releases, media advisories and photo opportunity announcements. Works closely with other departments to help craft media and pitching strategy. Coordinates long-lead media pitching and maintains consistency in organizational messaging. Assists in promotion of the Organization's events. Performs other duties as assigned.
