Emergency Department Fall 2018 Nurse Residency Christiana Care Health System is proud to announce our Emergency Department Nurse Residency Program for graduate nurses beginning in November 5, 2018. This unique program is a combination of classroom and clinical experiences. Participants will work under the supervision of experienced emergency nurses for the length of the program. Upon program completion, the participant will be hired as a staff member in one of our 3 Emergency Departments within Christiana Care Health System. This program has been devised by the nurses in the Emergency Department at Christiana Hospital. This program allows for a smooth transition from GN to the ED staff RN role into ED nursing, for those candidates qualified. Christiana Care is the only Level 1 Adult Trauma Center between Philadelphia and Baltimore. Our Emergency Department sees approximately 118,800 patients annually, servicing an average of 300 patients per day. There are 92 patient rooms, including state-of-the-art trauma resuscitation facilities. The Emergency Department Nurse Residency program will last 24 weeks. During the residency program, you will be working 80 hours per pay. Should you be extended permanent employment after the program, your position will be at 72 hours per pay period. Requirements to qualify are: * BSN required. * BLS required. * Completion of accredited nursing program and less than 12 months of nursing experience. * Candidates must possess a GPA of 2.8 or higher and must be eligible for licensure as a Graduate Nurse/Registered Nurse in the state of Delaware. Participants must also agree to sign a commitment agreement to work at the Christiana Care Health System for approximately two years as a member of the Emergency Department upon program completion. It is important to note that the DE licensure process may take 6-8 weeks to complete and the failure to do so will directly impact your ability to start a position if an offer is made.
