Examples of Duties Performed - Duties may include but are not limited to the following Please click on the job title below for more detailed information on the specific duties for each position: and Assists with the implementation of recreation programs at the community center, school, or other program sites; coordinates and teaches daily recreation activities to youth Instruction may target preschool through seniors and may include courses such as: Fitness Music Arts Martial Arts Gymnastics Dance Science Cuisine Educational Workshops Wellness Gardening Computers Consumer Issues : Responsible for supervision of center activities; patron safety, operation of computerized registration system, public relations, reception and clerical duties, and minor maintenance of facility. Successful candidates will work in cooperation with staff and the public, identify hazards, implement solutions, maintain a safe environment, and work within the policies and guidelines set by the City. Qualifications Minimum Requirements Some assignments may require a valid Oregon driver's license or, the ability to obtain by date of hire. Candidate must pass driving records check and, if hired, maintain a driving record that meets the City's standard. Oregon law requires that an out-of-state license holder must obtain a valid Oregon license (with appropriate endorsements) within 30 days of becoming domiciled in the state (ORS 803.355). Current First Aid and CPR certificates or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire. Must pass criminal background check. Three months of verifiable experience (full-time equivalent) working, volunteering or training in one of the areas listed below or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job. Work/volunteer experience in a Recreation setting Childcare or babysitting experience Customer service experience Camp leader Educational classes Community service Teaching and/or Teaching Assistant High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, supplemented by 1 year (full-time equivalency) experience of recreation program planning and or coordination in a certified child care facility, youth center, or recreation agency or organization. Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job.
