Responds to inmate requests for a Special Religious Diet by interviewing, investigating, assessing, and making recommendations for the Chaplain approval Provides and performs death notifications to inmates, which includes crisis intervention skills, as well as, accommodation and compassion Performs assigned projects, up-to-date worship services and updates religious volunteer lists Briefs/orients new religious volunteers and new staff regarding the role as Chaplain Assistant Assist in guiding/directing new volunteer chaplains, and visiting clergy Performs "on call" chaplain duties and compiles religious volunteer services schedule Represents Chaplain when he/she is unavailable Participates in Sheriff's Office recruitment and community relations activities as directed Open Requirements/Supplemental Information Minimum of a High School Diploma, college degree preferred and work experience. Upon being hired complete certification within 6 months from the American Association of Christian Counselors which includes a minimum of 150 educational contact hours; including the courses Caring for People God's Way (30 hours), Breaking Free (30 hours), Addiction & Recovery (30 hours), Stress & Trauma Care (30 hours) and Extraordinary Women and/or Healthy Sexuality (30 hours).
