Position Summary Provides security for patients, employees, and visitors; protects buildings, assets, and premises as assigned. Position Accountabilities The following are essential job accountabilities: Follows established City of Hope and department policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines, including adherence to the workplace Code of Conduct and Compliance Plan. Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality. [5] Patrols hospital buildings and premises to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and intruders. [1], [3] Responds to emergency (fire, oppression, etc.) conditions to contain and control for the protection of life and property. Under the direction of the lead licensed patient care staff, assists as part of the team in the management of violent or acting out patients. Monitors conduct of visitors on hospital premises; confronts unauthorized persons for questioning as needed. [1] Reports safety and/or fire hazards or security violations. [1], [5] Escorts personnel to parking lots and hospital buildings. [1] Participates in investigations; maintains records and prepares incident reports and other documents pertinent to security activities. [1] Secures and/or unlocks offices and facilities. [1] Secures patients valuables or lost and found articles; maintains logs of items received. [1] Controls parking and traffic flow; enforces parking regulations. [1] Assists with moving or transporting heavy items. [1] Assists with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies. [1] Maintains department records, reports, and files as required. [2] Enhances professional growth and development through participation in education programs, reviewing current literature, attending inservice meetings, and workshops. [1] Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. Position Qualifications Minimum Education High School or equivalent Experience may substitute for minimum education requirements Minimum Experience One year prior hospital security experience preferred . Personal computer experience preferred. Required Courses/Training AB5O8/management of aggressive behavior Req. Certification/Licensure Current CA Drivers license; Guard Registration card; Firearm permit; pepper spray permit; CPR within three months of hire Preferred Education Associates Degree Preferred Field of Expertise Criminal justice, law enforcement or related field Skills: Display tact and consideration in dealing with City of Hope patients, employees and visitors. Aptitude: Req./Pref.
