    Job Description

    ABOUT THE ROLE: Classy is in search of a strong Controller to join our team with experience in fast-paced & dynamic environments. This role reports to the Chief Operating Officer and will collaborate closely with our Finance and Operations Teams to bring best in class support services to both our internal customers and external customers. 

    WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH:

    • Design best in class accounting processes to help Classy scale
    • Own, manage, and direct a tight GL month-end close process (key accounts include revenue, deferred revenue, accounts receivable, commissions and stock options)
    • Build a detailed and meaningful monthly reporting package to present to the executive team
    • Direct all aspects of accounting operations, overseeing all transactions related to general ledger, receivables, payables, payroll, and financial reporting
    • Develop and maintain all necessary accounting policies and systems, including general ledger and financial reporting. Ensuring that records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principle
    • Work with Finance to manage and optimize the company forecasting model to help drive strategic decision making 
    • Work with Finance to develop and maintain KPI's, leading indicators, and insights for the business. 
    • Build, manage, and mentor a team of world class accounting staff
    • Drive quote-to-cash process, working to continue automation and development of scalable processes and procedures as the Company continues to grow
    • Begin to identify and remediate any control weaknesses that exist in the financial reporting and operation processes
    • Oversee (and, at times, perform) accounting research requiring sufficient understanding of US GAAP 
    • Design financial reporting to drive and analyze strong SaaS (software-as-a-service) unit economics 
    • Lead and manage the year-end audit; act as point person with CPA firm, Ernst & Young
    • Manage all tax planning and compliance with all required federal, state, local, payroll, property, and other applicable taxes. Coordinating and/or preparing tax schedules, returns and information

    WHAT YOU BRING (REQUIREMENTS):

    • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Accounting/Finance required or equivalent education and training
    • CPA license with deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP
    • 5+ years of progressive SaaS/software experience
    • 3+ years of direct management experience
    • Experience with developing a first-class Accounting team
    • Strong communication skills and ability to interact with internal and external partners
    • Ability and willingness to perform day-to-day finance and accounting tasks – "roll up your sleeves" attitude
    • Strong organizational skills, extraordinary attention to detail, and keen ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
    • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating priorities and deadlines
    • An eagerness to be challenged and a desire to personally improve as Classy continues its rapid growth
