Operating Room Team Facilitator - Req #: 40530 - location: Akron, OH - facility: Akron General Hospital - professional area: Nursing Support/Patient Services - department: ASA - jobcode: AK9935 - schedule: Full time - shift: Other - Job Details Job Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Team Manager-OR, or designee, the OR Team Facilitator is an integral part of the Operating Room team who assists in the preparation, delivery, and clean-up of patient care during the intra-operative phase. Contributes to the smooth operation of the unit and is a valuable member of the operating room unit. - Assists with obtaining and organizing necessary equipment, sterile supplies, and instruments for each surgical case. - Assists with assembling surgical supplies for rooms and case tables. - Assists with opening sterile supplies for surgical procedures. - Assists with processing immediate use sterilization instruments. - Responsible for high level disinfection. - Assists with taking soiled case cart to decontamination and proper disposal of instruments. - Distributes supplies throughout the department. - Returns unneeded items to the appropriate location, wiping down equipment prior to storage and between patient use. - Follows-up on equipment needing repairs. - Assists with patient care as directed by the RN. - Assists with transporting patients to and from the surgical area. - Assists with ?turnover? of surgical suites between cases. - Assists with removing trash from Operating/Delivery rooms, and removing debris from floor. - Washes out trash cans inside and out, bags linen, moves and washes table, washes all other furniture in room. - Wipes all flat surfaces prior to first case of the day, routinely throughout day, and at the end of the day. - Assists with placing table back in original position, remaking the bed, and spot cleaning the walls. - Assists with mopping floors, cleaning and maintaining conductive floors between-cases and daily in prescribed manner. - Pulls anesthesia circuits and change suction between cases and cleans anesthesia equipment and cords at end of day. - May be assigned to check outdates. - Performs other duties as assigned by Assistant Team Manager-O.R. - Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements. Maintains applicable certification/licensure. - Follows system and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code, display of the ID badge and safety. - Other duties as assigned Education: - High School diploma or GED. Certifications: - Current American Heart Basic Life Support for HCP certification. Complexity of Work: - Maintains competencies specific to patient population served. - Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. - Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. - Time management and organizational skills are needed to work effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines, high volumes, and with multiple interruptions. - Self-directed with the ability to prioritize tasks. - Ability to listen to others and respond in emergency situations. - Must be able to work with confidentiality and a sense of urgency. Work Experience: - One year experience as a Sterile Processing Tech, Surgical Technician or similar type work. One year experience with high level disinfection preferred. Previous experience in the O.R.environment preferred. - Previous knowledge/work with O.R. equipment preferred. - Experience utilizing aseptic technique preferred.
