  • Responsibilities

    GENERAL SUMMARY:

     

    Administratively responsible to the Supervisor and/or the Assistant Supervisor on duty, the Resident Assistant is responsible for carrying out the assigned programs to individuals of the Intermediate Care Facility Program (ICF/ID). A minimum of 85% of work-time is spent in direct individual contact.

     

    Assigned duties are implemented in a manner appropriate to the age-specific needs of the individuals served.

    EDUCATION:

     

    High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

     

    WORK EXPERIENCE:

     

    Two (2) years experience working with intellectually/developmentally disabled individuals preferred.

     

    SPECIAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

     

    Must be cleared by PA State Police criminal history check.

    Must pass post-job offer pre-placement physical exam; and initial and subsequent annual TB screenings.

    CPR certification must be obtained and maintained.

    Must adhere to established company/program policies and procedures and regulations relating to safety and infection control.

    Good verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills required for effective communication with individuals on caseload, families, outside agency representatives and program staff.

    As determined by facility and work schedule, valid USA driver's license may be required for frequent and unscheduled travel to fulfill position responsibilities, i.e., individual programming, transport, and appointments.

    Must successfully complete Allied’s Driver Training Program, as stated by policy #2.43.

    Knowledge of counseling skills and behavioral intervention techniques required.

     

    Responsible for individual’s immediate general physical well being and supervision at all times. 

    Implements specified developmental services and Individual Program Plans as developed by the ID Team and/or referenced in ongoing in-service information. 

    Provides guidance and supervision to the individuals in accordance with program objectives and/or as situations warrant. 

    Routinely provides physical assistance to individuals as needed with activities of daily living (ADL) and in transfers to and from beds, bathroom facilities, and company vehicles, etc. Assists and supports individuals with ambulation or gait difficulties. 

    Implements Individual Behavioral Programs under the direction of the Psychology Department and ID Team. This may involve crisis intervention with aggressive individuals or protecting individuals from themselves or other aggressive individuals. 

    Utilizes appropriate prompts/interventions, (physical, verbal, modeling, shadowing, etc.) to carry out training programs

    Attends Interdisciplinary Team meetings and other staff meetings as assigned by supervisory personnel. Provides accurate information relative to individual’s progress in the residence. 

    Assists in the development of Individual Program Plans and individual goal plans. 

    Participates in documenting and maintaining accurate records for each individual’s Individual Program Plan and data collection sheets relative to goals established by the Interdisciplinary Team. 

    Monitors individuals overall needs related to their personal possessions, clothing, living areas. Maintains accurate documentation in these areas

    Assists individuals in the area of community integration (e.g., transportation, shopping, banking, dining, etc.).  As required, drives agency vehicles to transport individuals to programming, appointments, recreation and community integration.

    • Ability to analyze operational objectives in a specific Areas of Responsibility (AOR) in order to assist leadership in shaping command activities in support of global US strategies. • Ability to analyze US and partner efforts to counter both regional and transregional threat networks operating across in a specific AOR. • Ability to analyze Theater Security Cooperation (TSC) with regional partners aimed at maintaining and strengthening partner relationships. • Ability to focus intelligence techniques in support of a specified Areas of Responsibility (AOR).
