The Health Information Management (HIM) Clerk maintains and updates patient records, including medical histories, treatments and examinations; filing and storing records; and releasing patient medical records
JOB DUTIES:
- Assist in the coding process, provide support and act as general liaison for the coding team
- Retrieve and electronically track charts
- Download patient records from EMR systems
- Submit electronic files to record management system
- Create and maintain incoming files by identifying correct patient information
- Create, send and track communication to providers
- Maintain confidentiality of all information according to HIPAA and company policy
The Health Information Management (HIM) Clerk assumes other responsibilities as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Analytical ability to apply criteria and evaluate information to make decisions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; and excellent interpersonal skills in teaming with patients, medical staff and the public
- Detail oriented with proven ability to multitask
- Professional appearance and ease in developing rapport with others
- Proficient computer skills
- Computer knowledge in MSOffice and Meditech
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· H.S. Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent work experience in field, required
· Medical Coding education and certification, preferred
