    Job Summary:

    The Collections Representative supports the business office by collecting payments from patients who have balances over 30 days old. The Collections Representative task list includes, but is not limited to:

    • Contacts patients directly to discuss outstanding balances due and coordinating the plan to collect payments (80% of the workload).
    • Answers incoming calls routed to the Billing Office to answer patients’ questions regarding balance and insurance questions.
    • Collaborates with Claims Specialist and Eligibility Specialist for information patients are requesting regarding coverage.
    • Administers the process of uploading weekly statements that will print and be sent to patients.
    • Collaborates with Business Office Manager regarding sending bills over 150 days to collections.
    • Monthly maintenance of budget plans.
    • Processes financial assistance applications.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Supervisory Responsibility:

    • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

    Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma or GED required. Post-secondary education or prior healthcare experience strongly preferred.
    • Minimum of one year of proven strong customer service and phone skills.
    • Minimum of 6 months of collections experience required.

    • Ability to effectively communicate and prioritize duties.
    • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
    • Ability to operate standard office equipment.
    • Strong computer skills.
    • Ability to work well whether independently or as part of a team.
    • Knowledge of principles and practices of basic office management and organization.

    Physical Demands:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; use hands to grasp or handle objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk or hear. Employee must be able to sit for at least 80% of time and stand for up to 20% of time. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

    Work Environment:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office setting. This is NOT a remote position.

    Compensation & Work Schedule:

    • Full-time: 40 hours/week.
    • Non-Exempt.
    • Day Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM
