We equip communities with information to make affordable, nutritious and appealing food choices wherever they live, work, learn, and play. We know that food is rooted in culture and tradition so we promote diversity in our lessons and recipes, encouraging our participants to celebrate the world around them.

    Common Threads is seeking a passionate, results-oriented Program Coordinator based in El Paso. This position is responsible for growing and maintaining relationships with school districts, city leaders, and community-based organizations while also helping the organization deliver its programming. This staff person will be an integral member of the Common Threads’ El Paso team. The Program Coordinator will assist with coordination of ongoing Common Threads’ programming and support special El Paso based projects, on an as needed basis. This position is grant funded for two years, with opportunities for growth as the project develops.

    This is a part-time, non-exempt position, up to 20 hours per week that reports to the Senior Program Manager based in El Paso. This is a remote position with regular local travel to school and community partner sites, and occasional travel outside of El Paso. Primarily will work Monday- Friday (during 9a-5pm), but some night and/or weekends may be required

    Program Coordinator Responsibilities:

    • Manage school partner relationships in the El Paso area, including:
    • Recruit new schools for partnerships per grant goals
    • Work with school administration and teachers to schedule and implement Small Bites, our in-school nutrition program, and after-school cooking classes
    • Manage specific program pieces such as rosters, curriculum, and surveys
    • Oversee quality of programming regarding curriculum and school relationships (frequent class visits are required)
    • Work with the Evaluation Manager to complete data entry and return surveys
    • Coordinate and conduct Small Bites Teacher Training, Caregiver Workshops, Small Bites, and Cooking classes in schools and community spaces.
    • Support with training and management of Chef Instructors
    • Collaborate with local farmers and purveyors to source ingredient
    • Utilize Salesforce (CRM) to track all program data

    Qualifications

    • Education, Program Management, Public Health, Nutrition Professional background preferred.
    • 1-3+ years of experience in not-for-profit organizations
    • Knowledge of nutrition and cooking preferred
    • Must have access to a car and willing to travel locally
    • Bilingual preferred
    • Experience working with Salesforce or a CRM preferred
    • Ability to work within a mission-driven environment to develop professional and respectful relationships with people both internal and external to Common Threads
    • Ability to work independently and remotely with confidence and outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Strong organizational, time management and logical thinking skills; must be task-oriented
    • Solid analytical and problem-solving skill set
    • Possess positive, upbeat energy and a passion for wellness, food access, tolerance and awareness, and making a positive impact on society
    • Comfortable multi-tasking and adapting their roles and communication style depending on the task

    Additional Information:

    • Common Threads employees are subject to a background check prior to employment.
    • This is a part-time, non-exempt position that will primarily work Monday through Friday between the hours of 9am-5pm but some nights and/or weekends may be required.
    • This position reports to the Senior Program Manager based in El Paso.

    • Candidates must reside in El Paso county or the surrounding county.

    Work Environment:

    This job operates in a home office as well as in schools and organizations in the community. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as a computer, phone, and files.
