The Computer-Aided Drug Design Group in La Jolla, CA is seeking a current PhD student for a 10-12 week summer research internship.  In this position, the intern will use computational methods to investigate strategies for treating cancers.

The intern will work alongside a computational chemistry scientist and assist in experimental design, execution, and analysis.  This work will be performed in close collaboration with medicinal chemistry coworkers and the intern will be encouraged to discuss ideas and share results with the team.

The intern will be a member of a supportive and respectful environment where they will be able to learn and develop new skills while making a difference.    

QUALIFICATIONS

• Currently enrolled in PharmD or PhD program in computational chemistry or related discipline.
• Competent in python and bash. 
• Experience in the application of computational chemistry tools and methodologies to the drug discovery process is preferred (examples may include: Jupyter Notebooks, docking, high-throughput virtual screening, AI/ML, cheminformatics, molecular dynamics, quantum mechanics, and homology modeling). 
• Familiarity with one or more commercial computational chemistry packages is preferred (examples might include: PyMol, Maestro/Schrodinger, MOE/Chemical Computing Group, OpenEye, Pipeline Pilot). 
• A documented track record of research productivity is preferred.  
• Qualified candidates are self-motivated, have strong interpersonal and analytical skills, and are excited to share fresh perspectives and tackle new challenges.
