    Great opportunity for a highly motivated, action-oriented, and results driven person to lead production and support functions in a fast-paced, growing environment! 

    As the PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR with SAFCO PRODUCTS, you will be the change driver, leading process improvement initiatives that will yield major efficiencies and cost savings for the company. This position will be working inter-functionally and oversee all production and support functions. We are looking for an individual with specific knowledge of Metal Fabrication operations, Wood Fabrication operations, and/or a Paint line.

    This full-time position reports directly to the OPERATIONS MANAGER and is located at Safco’s manufacturing plant in Milford, Iowa.

    Required Skills

    IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

    • Accomplishes department results by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, training, and appraising job results through coaching and initiates counseling and disciplinary actions as necessary.
    • Initiates, coordinates, and enforces systems, policies, and procedures.
    • Acts as coach and mentor to other Supervisors.
    • Helps create systems, policies, and procedures.
    • Partners with the Operations Manager to help determine longer range projects and initiatives for their own and other areas.
    • Assist in developing strategic communication and cascading it down to different layers within the organization to result in clear vision and goals
    • Ensures adherence to the daily schedule and customer requirements are met.
    • Assists in recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
    • Facilitates development and personal growth opportunities for team members.
    • Maintains workflow by monitoring material inventory, personnel and resources, observing control points and equipment while initiating and fostering a spirit of collaboration within and between departments.
    • Proactively works to reduce costs, simplify processes/operations, and improve product quality while being safety minded.
    • Monitors employee performance to assure that quality and production standards are met and assists in completing performance reviews.
    • Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.
    • Ensures 5S standards are followed and safety standards are complied with and employees work in a safe manner
    • Ensures reporting is completely and accurately filled out and done in a timely fashion (quality, efficiency, and capacity reports) and communicates results to the team so they can aid in problem-solving
    • Creates and maintains an environment of continuous improvement. Is comfortable leading project teams in continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Maintains communication between among all levels to include management and employees.
    • Can speak for operations in the absence of the Operations Manager
    • Ensures maximization of the space, proper rotation of materials and cleanliness
    • Other duties as assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    • Associate’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
    • Bachelors Degree in applicable field preferred.
    • 5-7 year’s supervisory experience for a manufacturing/industrial company required.
    • Knowledge of LEAN Manufacturing principles and concepts desired
    • Ability to read and understand blueprints (drawings).
    • Must possess basic mechanical aptitude.
    • Ability to lift 30 pounds on a regular basis and up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
    • Prior work experience with JDE/Oracle in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
    • Must be able to efficiently organize and manage multiple priorities.
    • Must be able to effectively present information to management and other employees
    • Exhibit positive attitude and proven ability to inspire and lead a team
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Exhibit high attention to detail and exercise sound judgment in decisions
    • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
