    Position Summary:
    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Spvr - Nutritional Services.

    In this role, the successful candidate is overseeing the patient food service function of the kitchen work area. This includes adherence to DOH and DNV regulations.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Checks trayline assembly for: accuracy, proper portion control and staff sanitation – hairnets, proper glove use and hand washing
    • Assures trayline is accurate and timely.
    • In-services personnel in portioning of food, sanitation, and trayline accuracy.
    • Schedules nutritional aides in a timely manner, insures that all positions are filled and that employees benefit time requests are considered.
    • Organizes daily schedule to insure that patient meals are assembled and distributed appropriately.
    • Accept daily call outs and determine need to replace staff or reassign existing staff to fill needed positions
    • Plan employee schedule when assigned
    • Writes performance appraisals for the aides and uses the process as an opportunity to review, evaluate and teach.
    • Communicates and Documents all counseling with employees to ensure all staff members are informed of their work performance.
    • Participates in all aspects of training Nutritional Aides and continually documents observations of staff achieving milestones in reaching performance goals.
    • Ensures Nutritional Aides’ job completion and productivity as per the collective bargaining agreement.
    • Participates in writing performance appraisals for Nutritional Aides, which are objective and meaningful; using appraisal system as an opportunity to review and teach; provides on-the-spot counseling and corrections to employees as appropriate
    • Follows hospital policy of progress discipline for counseling staff when necessary
    • Documents temperatures on quality control logs and takes corrective action when needed
    • Assures all catering orders are completed and delivered
    • Reports problems to appropriate managers
    • Involved in Performance Improvement studies as needed.
    • Reports needed repairs to Engineering and follows up as needed with appropriate individual or department.
    • Able to assist with menu system in cases where it becomes necessary due to staffing or computer issues.

    Long Island Community Hospital provides a salary range to comply with the New York State Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The hourly range for the role is $30.00 - $31.83 hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.

    Minimum Required Skills:

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required.
    • Demonstrated leadership, high stress tolerance, ability to actively participate on a high-performance team and an enthusiasm for change are a must.

    Preferred Skills:

    • Knowledge of the transportation industry and Supply Chain strategies.
    • Ability to learn quickly, adapt to new environment, prioritize and multi-task.
    • Ability to manage stress levels in a positive manner.
    • Experience in negotiating rates with transportation providers.
