The substitute teacher will be joining a team of teachers who feel called to serve Gods youngest children with passion and excellence. The teachers at Kings Preschool teach and communicate with intention and passion and maintain a culture where all staff can thrive and grow professionally. A culture that glorifies Our Lord and Savior and supports a positive culture for our teachers as well as the children and families that attend our school. The Substitute Teacher is a critical part of helping our program keep the quality and consistency required when one of our teachers are unable to work due to different reasons. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: (Responsibilities, Accountabilities, and Competencies; May not include all duties of this job) * Support the Director and Assistant Director in maintaining a quality program that upholds the standards, goals, and overall mission of Kings Schools and the Preschool. * Assist the lead teacher, assistant teacher and other staff with maintaining a well-functioning, safe and thriving learning environment. * Work as a member of the teaching team to creatively solve problems and resolve concerns with students throughout the day, giving support to the teachers and positive guidance to the children. * Perform job tasks independently and in a timely manner without direct supervision. * Know and comply with the State regulations concerning a state licensed preschool and know specifically how it impacts your job duties and responsibility in the classroom. * Intentionally develop positive relationships with all teachers and staff. * Represent yourself as a professional in Early Childhood Education and teacher to Kings Preschool standards to students and their families. * Assist teachers in the classroom, on the playground and in the gym, in lesson preparation and implementation. * Communicate effectively, respectfully and in a professional manner with Director, Assistant Director, teachers and other Kings Preschool staff. * Work collaboratively with supervisor, coworkers, students and their parents. * Perform other related duties as assigned. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience) * Christian Commitment:Demonstrated Christian commitment and relationship with Jesus Christ while being active in a local church. * Education:Completed or in process of earning a two year degree in Early Childhood education or related field from an accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education or equivalent. * Experience:Must have a minimum of two years prior experience working with children. * Licensure/Certification:Must be willing to provide recent proof of negative Tb skin test prior to first day of work. Must have or be willing to obtain within 30 days of hire the following; child/infant CPR and first aid, HIV and blood borne pathogen training, and food handlers permit. Must be willing to show proof of exemption of STARS basic 20 hour waiver or take the class within 3 months of hire date. * Other Considerations: * Must have ability and commitment to work with multi-ethnic, culturally diverse student and parent population. * Ability to work with the public in a friendly and courteous manner. * Maintain confidentiality and composure in a busy, open setting. * Must have a patient, child-centered temperament, professionalism, and a team unity mind set. * Strong ability to communicate clearly to young children as well as the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing to teachers, parents, and supervisors. * Be flexible and able to change direction quickly in response to a variety of situations that can occur in the classroom. * Ability to work collaboratively with supervisor, coworkers, students and their parents. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience) * Education:Bachelors degree in related field from an accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education or equivalent. * Experience:Prior experience working with children ages 1-5 years.
