Abiomed is a fast-paced medical device company with a portfolio of percutaneous heart pumps that impact the lives of patients around the world. We have a strong Coop/Intern program that challenges students in multiple areas in Engineering with a focus on providing mentoring and learning opportunities through a growing curriculum.

Scope of Work:

The candidate will be involved in solving data science and data analytics problems. With defined requirements, the candidate will be responsible for designing algorithms for research, building machine learning tools and doing data analysis.

Brief Job Description:

• Implement machine learning to new or existing algorithms
• Design algorithms for products and internal analysis tools
• Research in new applications of data science within the company
• Conduct data analysis for internal or external groups

Qualifications:

• Junior, Senior, or Grad student pursuing a degree in data science, computer science, computer engineering, software engineering or statistics.

Required:

• Strong machine learning background
• Proficient in at least one programming language (Python or C++ preferred) and solid understanding of datastructures & algorithms
• Solid understanding of statistics, strong analytical skills
• Self-motivated, execute tasks in a timely manner
• Demonstrated communication skills, both written and verbal

Strongly preferred:

• Knowledge in data science / machine learning libraries (numpy, pandas, matplotlib, sklearn, nltk)
• Deep learning experience (TensorFlow, Keras)
• Experience in signal processing
• Big data / cloud experience (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Hadoop, Spark, Hive)
• Displayed interest in medical device industry
