Job Description
SUMMARY
The Data Center Engineer is responsible for the continued management, best-practice operations, uptime, and support of the North American tier-3 data center. This individual will leverage their extensive experience, industry best practices, and vendor relationships to ensure the continued stability and availability to enable the organizations continued growth. This position will oversee the work of data center engineers, architects, and operational personnel and ensure development and adherence to policies, procedures, and practices that conform to company guidelines and objectives. Also responsible for maintaining the operation and maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, security, life safety and monitoring equipment within the mission-critical Data Center facility which is expected to maintain 100% customer availability. Provide data center expertise and coordination for projects requiring data center services. Schedule and coordinate vendor activities required to maintain the facility and complete project requirements. This individual will also work closely with all technical divisions, and establish and maintain vendor, supplier, and city/government partner relationships. In addition to operational support and readiness, this position will be tasked with the continued evaluation of infrastructure efficiency, capacity, and business continuity, while making recommendations for architectural changes, as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Manage a 24x7 Data Center that meets/exceeds established critical SLA's
Establish mature, documented process that adhere to company security standards and industry best practices
Improve the organizational DR/BCP capability by Identifying foreseeable recovery risks in order to comply with privacy and information security policies and procedures.
Maintain facility appearance and integrity
Conduct routine facility walkthroughs that identify infrastructure risks and performance gaps
Read and understand drawings and prints including single-lines and floor plans
Manage scheduled maintenance of electrical, mechanical, life safety and monitoring equipment
Prepare and validate detailed maintenance plans in accordance with change management guidelines
Prepare and validation of detailed business justifications in accordance with finance guidelines
Proactively oversee the monitoring equipment and other critical systems
Assist in Incident Management events of system degradation or failure, communicating status and resolving the issue quickly
Respond to engineering requests with technical information for electrical power and mechanical capacity
Communicate regularly with Executive Management regarding operational readiness and system conditions
On-call 24x7 for operational support, and onsite rotation for data center incident management and emergency response.
Technical support for affiliates IT Infrastructure in North America
Coordinate and deliver technical support and infrastructure improvement projects for affiliates across North America
Plan and execute on-site field services including site assessments, infrastructure diagnostics, and environmental optimization efforts
Oversee and implement remote monitoring integration projects, including FMS/BMS upgrades and centralized visibility platforms
Lead infrastructure upgrade initiatives such as power system improvements (UPS, PDU), thermal optimization (containment, cooling), and facility modernization
Liaise with global headquarters and affiliate IT teams to ensure alignment on operational standards, architectural consistency, and project milestones
Develop scopes of work (SOW), coordinate vendor execution, and support budgeting and reporting processes for affiliate-led projects
Maintain ongoing engagement and follow-up (FU) with affiliate stakeholders to ensure project continuity and successful delivery, regardless of personnel changes
Salary: $100K - $120K/yr. (D.O.E)
