    Position Components

    In this role, you will work with colleagues in the JNJ Innovative Medicine R&D Data Science & Digital Health organization and partner with key businesses across JNJ Innovative Medicine (formerly Janssen) to apply advanced data science and analytics to answer key research questions. As an intern, you will get the opportunity to work on cutting-edge problems at the intersection of machine learning and healthcare. Youwill be a member of a dynamic team comprising data scientists and subject matter experts to create and iterate on data science solutions . Projects include, but are not limited to, use of real - world data for modeling and prediction of disease severity and progression, discovery of disease subtypes, risk stratification, and precision medicine using traditional biostatistical methodologies and advanced methodologies from machine learning and/or deep learning . Interns could be located out of our US locations in San Diego, San Francisco, Titusville, Raritan, Spring House, Boston as well as remote.

    Minimum qualifications:

    • Currently pursuing bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computational Biology, Biomedical Informatics, or related quantitative discipline.
    • Proficient in Git, Python
    • Hands on experience in PyTorch
    • Strong working knowledge of Deep Learning/ Machine Learning with hands on knowledge of latest in the field: Transformers/Vision Transformers, Vision Foundational Models, Self Supervised Learning(CLIP, DINOv2), Adapters
    • Experience in analyzing datasets using standard packages: seaborn, matplotlib, sklearn
    • Experience working with AWS(EC2, S3)
    • Ability to conduct thorough literature review and synthesize information from scientific papers
    • Familiarity with predictive modeling and analysis of large datasets.
    • Strong technical communication and presentation skills.

    Preferred qualifications:

    Experience in one or more of the following -

    • Experience working with Medical Imaging data – Histopathology Images, CTs, MRIs, X-Rays
    • Experience in training foundational models for very large datasets from multiple modalities
    • Experience in developing custom self supervised methods for training foundational models for specific modalities
    • Experience in deploying PyTorch models using Docker for end user interaction

    The anticipated base pay for this position is Sophomore $24.00/hr, Junior $25/hr, Senior $27/hr, Master’s degree $32/hr.
