    Janssen Research & Development, L.L.C., a division of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies is recruiting an Intern, Data Science, in Janssen BioTherapeutics (JBio) located in Spring House, PA.

    Janssen’s BioTherapuetics (JBIO) is a member of the larger Discovery, Product Development and Supply (DPDS) organization within Janssen Research and Development. As the therapeutic biologics organization within Janssen Research & Development, we are leaders in developing biologic solutions for the treatment of challenging and complex diseases, and we aspire to translate scientific discoveries into transformational medicines that will make significant contributions to human health. Through our entrepreneurial culture of innovation, we take unique approaches to exploring and developing new therapeutic platforms to treat unmet medical needs.

    Position Components   In this role, you will:

    • Work with colleagues in the JBio Data Sciences organization and partner with key businesses across Janssen to help in applying advanced analytics to answer research questions related to key focus areas.

    • Be a member of a project team including data scientists and subject matter experts from the therapeutic areas and use their feedback to create and iterate on data science solutions.

  • Qualifications

    SUCCESSFUL INTERNS SHOULD:

    • Be currently pursuing a degree in computer science and/or biology (dual degree preferred)
    • Possess a strong understanding of Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computational Biology, Biomedical Informatics, or related field as demonstrated by current or prior coursework
    • Possess Strong technical communication and presentation skills
    • Display proficiency in one or more of the following: R/RShiny, Python, SQL, C, C++, Java, Perl
    • Hold experience with data wrangling, transformations, visualization, analysis, and predictive modeling
    • Possess familiarity with doing computations and analyses on large datasets
    • Have experience building population statistics to compare to the prevalence of elements in the analysis dataset is preferred
    • Prior independent or classroom research experience on a data focused project is preferred.
    • Machine learning experience is a plus
    • Demonstrate knowledge of health outcomes databases (claim, EMR/EHR, survey, observation studies) is a plus.
    • Experience with web development (HTML, Javascript, CSS, PHP, etc…) is a plus.
    • Coursework or background in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, biomedical engineering and other life sciences is a plus.
