    As an engineering intern, you will use your knowledge to support the process of developing trauma orthopedic products. This may include analyzing and mining voice of customer interviews for insights as well as using computer aided drafting and engineering skills to development and design surgical implants, instruments, and test fixtures. You will have an opportunity to work with product development engineers to support a variety of design verification activities such as drawing reviews, tolerance stack analysis, mechanical testing, and finite element analysis. This position will also provide opportunities to participate in simulated surgical validation labs. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, we will strive to bring impactful solutions to our customers.

You should possess verifiable leadership skills including being enthusiastic, thoughtful, detailed, decisive, flexible, and conducting yourself professionally and with integrity. Outstanding communication skills are critical, as you will interact with internal and external project team members regularly. Maintaining the highest levels of integrity, ethics, and compliance are a daily requirement.

    Expected hours/duration:

    This position requires a full-time(40 hours/week) work week with a hybrid site model (mixed on- and off-site). Dates for this position are between May and August of 2023; however, alternative dates that span the summer may also be considered. Transportation and housing to be on site at this location will be the hire's responsibility.

    Students legally authorized to work in the United States and that do not require future sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g. H1-B status) now or in the future may apply.

    You shall be:

    • A current university or college student in an accredited Mechanical or Biomedical engineering program in good academic standing.

    • Highly motivated and can work independently on one or multiple projects under general direction and can exhibit an attention to detail.

    • Interested in medical device/orthopaedic fields.

    • A “hands-on” engineering student with the ability to think creatively.

    • Able to establish and cultivate collaborations and partnerships internally and externally.

    • Able to prioritize project priorities.

    • Strong communication skills, including experience presenting to multidisciplinary audiences and attending team meetings face to face and by teleconference are needed.

    • Knowledgeable and experienced with Microsoft Office software.

    • Able to demonstrate a team- and community-based approach, with participation in campus/community service activities highly desirable.

    • Experience with Creo or SolidWorks CAD software, developing and implementing testing protocols, and documenting medical device development is a plus.
