To drive the best in class experience, the Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices Industrial Design & Human Factors (IDHF) organization seeks a dynamic, extraordinarily disciplined, Design to Business Strategy Co-op who is passionate about improving the quality of people's lives through the design of remarkable user experiences.

     

    The IDHF organization leads the effort in bringing a user-centered approach to new product development for the J&J Medical Device businesses. (Auris, Biosense Webster, DePuy Synthes Orthopedics, Ethicon)

     

    We are a collaborative team, dedicated to improving patient outcomes by delivering extraordinary user experiences. We partner with the cross-functional teams to ensure that the relevance and delight of the original idea are preserved through to market launch.

     

    This position is REMOTE, and will support our Raynham, MA office. This candidate will digitally integrate and report to the Lead Designer at the respective locations. Co-Op Employment duration will be April – August 2021.

     

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    User Centered Needs Assessment

    • Support primary and secondary research to identify user tensions and feedback on value drivers. Synthesize results into actionable design recommendations for key aspects of customer and product experiences.
    • Help translate user needs into requirements to prioritize design features and capabilities.
    • Utilize creative storytelling techniques to strategically frame data, insights, and recommendations for project partners.
    • Support development of user personas, customer journey maps, service models, and storyboarding user experiences (UX) in the care continuum.

     

    Contextual Framing and Opportunity Mapping

    • Support competitive portfolio analyses to define unique differentiators and profitable design opportunities.
    • Participate in crafting value propositions & vision statements for design concepts and business models.
    • Support business strategy by understanding cost structures, risks, and market goals. Prototype, test, & iterate new business models, considering pricing models, customer channels, etc.

     

    Trend & Market Analysis

    • Conduct trend analysis (e.g. demographic, consumer, technology, healthcare, economics, regulatory) identifying untapped opportunity spaces that will impact, inform, and contextualize business and design decisions.

     

    Collaborative Workshops

    • Support early stage innovation workshops with cross-functional partners, using human-centered design thinking and co-creation methodologies.
    • Develop strategic frameworks to identify and communicate new opportunities for elevating customer experiences and making decisions on business plans.

  • Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in design strategy, business, marketing, behavioral psychology, or another relevant field.
    • Must be currently enrolled in a degree program and not graduating prior to August 2021
    • Students must be authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship now or in the future.
    • Healthcare industry experience preferred.
    • Proficiency using MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and design software Adobe Creative Suite.
    • Balances creative thinking & analytical skills to problem solve
