Provides direct services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities and teaches them to build skills necessary to increase their personal empowerment and level of independent functioning which includes:
- Assisting individuals in learning/managing daily living skills such as personal hygiene, bathing, laundry, meal preparation/clean-up, developing/maintaining healthy eating habits, maintaining a clean and safe living environment, appropriate communication/interactions with others, responding to emergency situations appropriately
- Assisting individuals with transportation needs to increase their community inclusion
- Advocating on behalf of the client and teaching individuals’ effective self-advocacy skills
- Teaching individuals’ basic skills to ensure their health and safety
- Medication administration including insulin
- Documents direct service contacts according to all internal and external requirements
- Collaborates with the transdisciplinary team to identify/address changing needs of individuals
