    Janssen Research & Development, L.L.C., a member of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, is recruiting for an Immunotoxicology/Experimental Pathology Co-op to be based in Spring House, PA. The duration of this co-op is April 2018 to September 2018 (Drexel calendar).

    Janssen Research & Development, L.L.C., develops treatments that improve the health and lifestyles of people worldwide. Research and development areas encompass novel targets in neurologic disorders, gastroenterology, oncology, infectious disease, diabetes, hematology, metabolic disorders, immunologic disorders, and reproductive medicine.

    The co-op will join the Immunotoxicology/Experimental Pathology group within the Biologics Toxicology Department. The Immunotoxicology/Experimental Pathology group is proficient in histopathology (i.e., the microscopic structure, compositions, and function of diseased tissues), immunohistochemistry, hematology, clinical biochemistry, microscopy, image analysis, flow cytometry and molecular pathology.

    With guidance, you will:

    • Learn about histopathology and develop microscopy, imaging and morphometric techniques.
    • Development of in vitro assays as well as experiments involving animal models, hematology, flow cytometry and PCR.
    • Make detailed observations, record data, interpret results, perform graphic analysis of data and be responsible for general laboratory duties.
    • Maintain a written record of studies in the form of an electronic notebook and present data at group meetings.

    Qualifications

    • Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited college throughout the duration of the co-op (April 2018 to September 2018).
    • Completion of a minimum of two years towards a BS in Biomedical Engineering; Chemistry/Analytical Chemistry; Biology; Biochemistry; Molecular Biology; Biotechnology; Microbiology; Supply Chain Management or related science or engineering disciplines is required.
    • Student must have the ability to work full-time during the session.
    • PC based skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Project and PowerPoint, are preferred.
    • Minimum 3.0 GPA is preferred.
    • Local travel may be required. Students must be able to provide their own transportation to/from their work location. Public transportation (SEPTA) is available to the Spring House campus.
    • Students must be legally authorized to work in the United States and not require future sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g. H1-B status) now or in the future.
