    Job Summary:
    The EHS Specialist is responsible for supporting and delivering the J&J IMSC Wilson EHS requirements incl. for instance Industrial Hygiene, Bio Safety, Chemical Safety, Laboratory Safety, and linked Risk Assessment processes in compliance with Johnson & Johnson (J&J) requirements and US Code requirements, project design and delivery process in support of J&J's North Carolina Biologics expansion program etc.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Under direct supervision, support biosafety, general safety, industrial hygiene and chemical management programs in a laboratory setting.

    • Develop site-specific procedures and programs based on corporate guidance, regulatory standards, and best practices.

    • Partners with associates at all levels including frequent interaction with middle and senior management at the business location and occasional interaction with regulatory authorities.

    • Provide technical support and guidance on EHS standards and best practices to various facility stakeholders.

    • Participating in and support EHS projects, Risk Assessments, and ensure identified action are incorporated into the site tracking process.

    • Document all EHS reviews at various stage-gates and manage measures to achieve action closure in a timely manner.

    • Ensure EHS compliance and laboratory safety are integrated into design processes from the earliest stages to prevent rework and ensure compliance.

    • Participate in all stages of the vendor technical review, contributing an EHS perspective, providing solution-based support.

    • Provide technical support to the System Owner group to facilitate compliance with J&J Bio Safety, Chemical and Laboratory Safety expectations, and incorporate lessons learned and best practice solutions.

    • Support other project EHS functions to ensure project EHS deliverables meet schedule and budget obligations.

    • Maintain and report on EHS KPIs and other project KPIs throughout the project and facility lifecycle.

    • Facilitate EHS training for large and small groups as well as coaching trainers to execute on EHS training materials.

    • Additional responsibilities may include support of the site’s general safety and health programs such as ergonomics, construction management, general occupational safety, and emergency response.

    Essential Qualifications:

    • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in EHS, Engineering, Science, or a related field.
    • Strong experience in chemical, laboratory, and bio safety within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors.
    • A minimum of 4 years of experience in EHS roles, particularly in laboratory and checmical safety delivery elements.

    Skills:

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to working in a team delivery environment.
    • Proficient in general EHS management software and data analysis tools.

    Attributes:

    • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
    • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety practices.
    • Adaptability to changing facility demands and environments.

    Working Conditions:

    • Position based in Wilson, North Carolina with limited remote work available.
