    The Cardiovascular & Specialty Solutions (CSS) Group, part of the Medical Devices sector within Johnson & Johnson, is recruiting for an Engineer I R&D Engineer aligned to Mentor Worldwide LLC, a Johnson & Johnson company located in Somerville, NJ.

    The CSS Group consists of six diverse businesses including Acclarent, Advanced Sterilization Products (ASP), Biosense Webster (BWI), Codman Neuro, Mentor, and Sterilmed. The CSS Group serves a diverse base of customers in Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT), Infection Prevention, Electrophysiology (EP), Neurovascular and Neurosurgery, Surgical and Non-Surgical Aesthetics, and Reprocessing.

    Mentor Worldwide LLC is a leading supplier of medical products for the global aesthetic market. The company develops, manufactures, and markets innovative, science-based products for surgical and non-surgical medical procedures that allow patients to improve their quality of life through breast, body and facial aesthetics.

    Responsibilities:

    • The Engineer I R&D Engineer will be responsible for contributing to cross-functional multidisciplinary project teams (R&D, manufacturing, marketing, regulatory, etc.) in the design, development and manufacturing of breast implants, tissue expanders, and related products and processes to fulfill clinical needs within regulatory requirements.
    • Conduct research toward new product or process development or development toward improvement of existing products or process.
    • Apply knowledge of engineering principles to a broad range of assignments and contribute inventions, new designs, new processes and techniques to solve technical problems based on customer needs.
    • Interact directly with customers (surgeons) to determine and identify unmet needs and work towards producing products to support these conditions that incorporate manufacturability into new product development.
    • Interact with manufacturing to prepare R&D prototype testing or processing equipment for use in manufacturing.
    • Responsible for participating in design reviews and re-validation assessments to ensure the safe and environmentally sound start-up of new processes.
    • Responsible for ensuring personal and company compliance with all Federal, State, local and company regulations, policies and procedures for Health, Safety and Environmental compliance.
    • Other duties and responsibilities as needed/assigned by the manager.

  • Qualifications

    Requirments:

    • A Bachelor of Science Degree in an engineering discipline is required.
    • Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline preferred
    • A master’s degree in mechanical engineering or biomedical engineering is highly preferred.
    • Working knowledge of basic statistics is required.
    • CAD knowledge is required – Solidworks is a plus.
    • This position is based in Somerville, NJ and requires up to 20% travel both Domestic and international.
    • Working knowledge of statistical fundamentals including analyzing data, understanding of statistics and the application of statistical data is required.
