Job Description
Eagleville Hospital is seeking full-time and part-time Program Specialists to work all shifts. This individual will provides physical and behavioral health care to patients with co-occurring illness under the direction of the Clinical Manager and in collaboration with the multidisciplinary treatment team, using respectful, non-inflammatory verbal interactions with all patients and staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Rounding and Patient Safety is the primary responsibility of the Program Specialist. Makes hourly rounds on assigned unit, observing every patient every hour documenting his/her location on rounds form, utilizing required procedure.
- Utilizes principles of nonviolent crisis intervention when interacting with patients.
- Facilitates informational discussion and specialty groups for patients and documents in electronic record.
- Monitors and documents patient behaviors, therapeutic interactions, interventions and incidents regarding patients in designated log and patient record.
- Provides additional staff support by attending therapist groups and monitoring patient behavior.
- Provides therapeutic interventions with patients as prescribed by the treatment plan.
- Audit patient charts upon request, enter information into the computer, answer telephones and perform basic support services for patients and the facility.
- Participates in treatment team meeting for full update on status of patients.
- Responds to medical and psychiatric emergencies and assists in the management of behavioral emergencies utilizing nonviolent crisis interventions.
- Provides routine daily care for assigned patients including personal hygiene as needed (bed bath, showers, dressing, measuring intake and output etc.), vital signs, weights, observation of urine specimen collection, transporting and lifting patients, care of psychiatrically and medically ill patients.
- Conducts searches of patient belongings and residential spaces as needed
- Supervises patients on 1:1 and special precautions as needed and documents.
- Accompanies patients to and from unit in a safe, orderly manner. Drives and/or escorts patients off grounds to appointments, meetings, etc., as needed.
- Encourages and motivates patients to work the program at their current stage of change.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma with 2 years of experience in behavioral health. Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working with patients with mental health disorders is required. Some experience with drug/alcohol patients preferred
- Valid Pennsylvania driver's license preferred
- CPR certification is required within 120 days of hire
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. (only in assisted lifts). Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. required on a regular basis to assist with transporting items; e.g., patient belongings, supplies and equipment. Extensive walking and standing while performing duties required; ability to push wheelchair to transport patients on campus; ability to climb at least three flights of stairs
