    Job Description

    • Coordinates and completes intake and enrollment process for eligible children and families. Conducts recruitment activities. Conducts family child care home monitoring on a bi-weekly basis to ensure compliance with Head Start performance standards and Title 22 regulations. Ensures the health and safety of each child at contracted family child provider home. 
    • Plans, develops and ensures implementation of Family and Community Development area services, in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards, policies and procedures and Easter Seals Southern California (ESSC) standards of conduct. Coordinates the development and implementation of Family Partnership Agreements, beginning as soon as appropriate and continuing over the period of enrollment in the program, updating every three months.
    • Serves as a role model for family development, community involvement and parent involvement activities. In collaboration with Health Coordinator, ensures families receive timely referrals. Coordinates appropriate referrals for family and community development services, involving parents from the earliest possible opportunity.
    • Identifies and incorporates resources into the program, information and/or referrals for families in the following areas: mental health, child care, substance abuse treatment, education, employment training, income support, transportation, pregnancy, health needs, safety, nutrition and other topics requested by family.
    • Completes assigned paperwork, tracking reports and data input in a timely manner.
    • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education, child development and/or related field. Must possess and maintain a Child Development Associate Teacher Permit. Must meet ongoing educational requirements to qualify for child development permit/CDA requirements.
    • Must have 3 to 6 units of an Infant/Toddler class(s) from an accredited college with a “B” grade or better.
    • Training and experience necessary to develop consistent, stable and supportive relationships with very young children; must develop knowledge of parent involvement, cooperative family goal setting, supporting families through change.
    • Must possess and maintain current pediatric (infant/toddler) CPR and first aid certificate as well as a food handler’s certificate.
    • Must complete California-mandated Child Abuse Reporter Training as well as Pesticide Safety Training (per Healthy Schools Act) prior to beginning work.
    • Prior experience with developmentally appropriate practices for early childhood family services
    • Experience working with diverse families with very young children.
    • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office applications (e.g. Outlook, Excel, Skype).
    • Ability to properly interpret and implement regulations of the California Department of Education, Funding Terms and Conditions (Title 5), Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing (Title 22), Head Start Performance Standards, and of Easterseals policies and procedures.
    • Ability to communicate effectively, through oral and written skills, and work cooperatively with a variety of individuals and groups. Must relate well to children and their families and maintain a positive affect.
    • Ability to exercise sound judgment, plan, establish and meet timelines.
    • Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift 40 lbs. continuously. Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and squat. Must possess fine manual dexterity. Ability to push, pull, talk/hear, with near and far visual acuity/depth perception/color vision/field of vision.
    • Ability to pass a post-offer physical examination and a TB test.
    • Ability to provide any/all current immunizations as required by the State of California for child development centers and staff.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a criminal record/fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation per Easterseals Southern California and/or program requirements. Must have sex offender index clearance.
    • Ability to travel locally with reliable transportation, maintain driving record in compliance with Transportation Safety Standards, and maintain auto insurance and vehicle registration.
