  • Responsibilities

    Assist the Management Team with the on-going development and maintenance of a comprehensive Quality Assurance/Improvement program in all areas of the Pharmacy Department. Responsible for gathering and compiling relevant information to document monthly QA/QI reports. Assures compliance with Joint Commission standards, and state and federal regulations. Serves as Pharmacy Technician as needed.

    Required Skills

    1. Comprehensive knowledge of Texas State Board of Pharmacy and DEA rules and regulations regarding controlled substances. Flexibility to adjust to changing conditions and various requirements of the position.
    2. Familiar with the Hospital’s controlled substance distribution policies.
    3. Demonstrates a complete understanding of all USP 797 guidelines, QA testing and record keeping procedures.
    4. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to covey information effectively.
    5. Advanced knowledge of pharmacy terminology, calculations, dispensing,   compounding, law, and procedures.
    6. Excellent organizational skills.
    7. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with other management team members.
    8. Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment and advanced knowledge to use Cerner and or other pharmacy computer applications.
    9. Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality.
    10. Highly Customer Service Oriented individual.

    Required Experience

    WORK EXPERIENCE:  

    Three years experience as a Pharmacy Technician.

    LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS:

    Active Pharmacy Technician Registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) and Nationally Pharmacy Technician Certified (CPHT) Nationally IV Certified  

    EDUCATION AND TRAINING: 

    High school diploma or equivalent. 

    Associate of Applied Science/Pharmacy Technology preferred.
