  • Responsibilities

    As the Human Resource Assistant with Liberty Packaging Houston, you will be responsible for a variety of HR support activities including but not limited to benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding and offboarding, policy implementation, recruitment and employment law compliance & recordkeeping.

    This full-time position reports directly to the Regional Human Resources Manager and is located at Liberty Packaging’s manufacturing plant in Houston, TX.

    IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

    • Support the organization by implementing human resources programs, policies, and procedures
    • Communicate with HR and plant leadership on current employee issues to ensure stable employee relations, and a safe and secure work environment
    • Ensure that HR policies, practices, and procedures are properly and consistently administered
    • Collaborate with department supervisors in addressing employee performance issues and providing support as required in the performance management process
    • Assist in administering transfers, promotions, discipline & terminations, ensuring compliance with company policy and applicable law
    • Responsible for the non-exempt recruitment process including job postings, interviewing, reference checks, offer letters, and onboarding.
    • Update employee information such as personal data, compensation, attendance, performance evaluations, and termination data in the HIRS system
    • Assist in bi-weekly payroll process
    • Communicate and maintain required leave paperwork for hourly and salary employees including tracking FMLA and short-term disability
    • Coordinate local programs such as United Way drives, flu shots, employee engagement initiatives, etc.

    Required Skills

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field preferred
    • 2+ years’ experience as an HR Assistant preferably in a manufacturing environment
    • Proficiency in all MS Office programs required
    • HRIS systems knowledge
    • Knowledge of federal, state and local employment–related regulations required
    • Outstanding customer service, verbal, and written skills required
    • Strong planning, collaboration and teamwork skills required
    • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
    • Strong follow through, accountability, initiative and flexibility required
