  • Responsibilities

    Responsible, under limited supervision, for managing the operations of El Paso Children’s Hospital Medical Staff Services. Develop, manage and monitor processes and procedures that support the credentialing, re-credentialing, privileging, which includes monitoring of physician reappointment renewals and maintenance of licensure, malpractice and certification to ensure they are up to date and complete. Additional responsibilities include coordinating the flow of information from Medical Staff committees/departments through the Medical Executive Committee and the Board of Directors by coordinating and managing all Medical Staff meetings to ensure compliance with The Joint Commission and other accrediting bodies and working closely with the Medical Staff leaders, senior leadership and legal counsel. Responsible for ensuring compliance with all appropriate accrediting and regulatory agencies. Supervises credentialing staff in the day- to- day management of the overall credentialing process and database management and oversees all of the credentialing functions including application management and primary source verification. Provides managerial, administrative support and resources to the Medical Staff Services and Medical Staff Leadership of EPCH.

    13. Knowledge of Medical Staff policies, regulations, and bylaws, and the regulatory environment within which they operate.

    Required Experience

    A.  WORK EXPERIENCE

    1. Knowledge of Joint Commission Medical Staff standards preferred.
    2. Must have at least 5 years of CREDENTIALING experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities in Medical Staff services.

     

    B.   LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION

    1. NAMSS Certification as a Certified Professional Medical Services Manager (CPMSM) or Certified Credentials Specialist (CPCS) or actively pursuing and ability to become certified within one year of hire.

     

    C.   EDUCATION AND TRAINING

    1. Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration or Business, or currently enrolled at least part-time in such program of study with demonstrated consistent progress toward degree program completion.
