  • Responsibilities

    Assesses plans, organizes, implements and evaluates orientation and educational programs for Associates under area(s) of responsibility. In addition, fulfills responsibilities of an RN and functions as Performance Improvement liaison for area(s) of responsibility. Functions as the liaison for the Physicians, updates and reviews all nursing competencies, educational needs and reviews the current standards of practice to ensure the standards of care are maintained in the departmental setting. Identifies new technologies and changing standards of care for policy/procedure review and revision. Serves as Educational planner for CNE through possession of authority, accountability and responsibility of the CNE program planning. Serves as an internal consultant and facilitator to Performance Improvement Program(s) and related activities, and represents the service in organizational Performance Improvement Program(s).

    Required Skills

    3. Ability to make effective group presentations.

    4. Possesses strong statistical analysis skills.

    5. Strong knowledge of adult education principles, practices and procedures.

    6. Ability to utilize computer software applications to include word processing, spreadsheets and graphic presentations, preferred.

    7. English required, bilingual preferred.

    8. Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.

    Required Experience

    A. WORK EXPERIENCE

    1. Four years of professional clinical nursing experience in area of specialty, with significant experience/responsibilities in quality improvement (i.e.,        development and/or implementation of performance improvement activities) or related activities.

    B. LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION

    1. Current RN license to practice in the state of Texas.

    2. Certification within one year of hire, such as:

         a. ACLS, TNCC (Perioperative Services) and (PALS for PICU)

         b. CNOR preferred. (Perioperative Services)

         c. ACLS, TNCC, ATCN (acute adult care areas) and PALS (for Emergency Dept. and PICU)

         d. CCRN or CEN preferred (acute adult care areas).

    1. Current CPR Training Program.

    C EDUCATION AND TRAINING

    1. Bachelors degree in Nursing. Master''''s Degree preferred.

    2. Meets unit- specific education requirements.
