    Anesthesia Technician II Division Emory Univ Hosp-Midtown Campus Location Atlanta, GA, 30308 Campus Location US-GA-Atlanta Department EHM ANESTHESIA SERVICES Job Type Regular Part-Time Job Number 22440 Job Category Clinical & Nursing Support Schedule Other Standard Hours 20 Hours Description JOB DESCRIPTION: Delivers and retrieves equipment to and from various areas of the hospital and prepares non-disposable items for reuse. Rotates equipment in designated areas according to protocol. Sets up and supports equipment in operating room anesthesia locations and other patient care areas. Inspects patient monitoring equipment prior to installation and use by conducting performance and safety checks using testing equipment. Follows established procedures for equipment inspection. Installs patient care equipment according to manufacturer's instructions. Tests equipment to ensure that it remains in proper operating condition. Diagnoses problems using testing equipment to perform lower level troubleshooting and takes corrective action to prevent hazardous situations. Performs routine and emergency repairs, adjustments, or calibrations and preventive maintenance according to established procedures and schedules. Ensures the availability of expendable laboratory and monitoring supplies by inspecting inventories and initiating purchase requisitions. Stocks supplies and returns items to departmental storeroom upon receipt. Interacts positively with co-workers to ensure the flow of accurate and timely information between departments. Responds to emergency service requests made after regular working hours on a rotating basis. Assists in transporting post-operative patients to the Intensive Care Unit. Documents all work performed on patient monitoring equipment to ensure that accurate information is maintained on each piece of equipment. Follows sterile technique principles and other infection control policies and standards to maintain a healthy work environment Takes required precautions in keeping with JCAHO, organizational and other safety guidelines when working with electrical equipment. Generates appropriate electrical safety on patient care equipment and performs regulatory testing as required. Runs patient blood gases samples under direct supervision of certified laboratory supervisor. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma and one year of related healthcare experience OR two years post-secondary education in the sciences. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks. ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock , Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required.
