Instead, they operate independently with support from the Service Center, a world-class service team that provides the centralized clinical, legal, risk management, HR, training, accounting, IT and other resources necessary to allow on-site leaders and caregivers to focus squarely on day-to-day care and business issues in their individual agencies. About the Opportunity The Legal Intern will work under the direction of the General Counsel and Associate General Counsel to provide legal support to home health, hospice, and home care agencies affiliated with Cornerstone Healthcare, Inc. This positions primary tasks include but are not limited to assisting with the filing of licensing and certification applications with federal and state regulatory bodies, litigation support, acquisition support, contract review and projects, and general legal research. Legal Intern will work closely with attorneys and legal staff. Duties and Responsibilities Assist paralegals and attorneys in the filing of state and local business licenses and in the submission of required applications and other filings with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, State Departments of Health, and Medicare fiscal intermediaries to ensure the uninterrupted operation of Cornerstone affiliated agencies. Perform research on state, local, and federal laws. Perform other administrative functions including but not limited to filing, organizing litigation filings, and drafting correspondence. Effectively utilize computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software (MSWord, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint). Work requires continual attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines. Perform other tasks as assigned. Qualifications * Current high school or college student. * Previous legal intern/assistant experience or experience in a business/healthcare environment preferred.
