As an Accountant within our Regulatory Finance - Reporting and Accounting division, you will be responsible for the preparation and analysis of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, changes in capital and surplus, and statements of cash flow, pursuant to Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP), which is based on Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). You will prepare multiple quarterly and annual statutory filings, supplemental filings related to Health Care Reform, other state supplemental filings, as well as the annual audited financial statements. You will prepare and record journal entries in accordance with SAP and Medical Loss Ratio (MLR) requirements.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Prepare documentation in support of external and internal audits
    • Participate on working groups to develop and communicate innovative approaches for continued improvement in efficiency and effectiveness
    • Assist with or lead the quarterly close calls with entity executives
    • Prepare quarterly claim exhibits, supplements, and supporting documentation for assigned legal entities. Support actuarial certification of the schedules annually.
    • Prepare and analyze premium deficiency reserve evaluation models for assigned legal entities; work directly with actuary, legal entity management and other stakeholders to determine appropriate assumptions and results
    • Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis and investigate issues providing explanations and interpretation

  • Qualifications

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor degree in Accounting
    • 0-2 years of experience with accounting
    • Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
    • Communicate in an effective manner
    • Collaborate with peers to share best practices and complete projects
    • Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and organize work load to meet multiple hard deadlines
    • Demonstrate the drive and motivation to deliver high quality results based on thorough analysis
    • Possess sound business knowledge and strong decision making skills
