    We are searching for the best talent for a Facilities Controls Systems Senior Engineer to be located at Gurabo, PR.

    The Facilities Controls Systems Senior Engineer maintains high quality and safety standards and participates in the implementation of plant projects and initiatives of low, medium and high complexity nature. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automation control systems for facilities and utilities. Also, it involves managing SCADA software, PLC programming, system upgrades, and troubleshooting to optimize facility operations. The engineer will collaborate with system integrators, support maintenance initiatives, and ensure compliance during audits to ensure reliable and efficient facility performance.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Design, develop, and implement facilities automation control systems following J&J practices for CSV.
    • Oversee installation and modifications of facilities and utilities control equipment, ensuring seamless integration and performance.
    • Evaluate and implement strategic controls systems technology updates.
    • Detect constraints affecting control systems and work proactively to resolve issues related to instrumentation and utilities equipment like air compressors, boilers, AHUs, and more.
    • Lead efforts to scope and plan projects for hardware and software lifecycle management
    • Lead control system projects, manage maintenance activities, and implement continuous improvements with hands-on expertise in SCADA, Wonderware InTouch, PLC programming (Allen Bradley & Siemens), Oracle Database, and SQL.
    • Function as CMMS Administrator. Manage and improve the CMMS process, supporting operational efficiency and maintenance planning.
    • Interact with system integrators to ensure adequate support, evaluate system performance, and recommend upgrades or new control systems.
    • Lead control system upgrades, project planning, and execution to support operational excellence.
    • Support internal and external audits related to automation, control systems, and maintenance processes.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required. Focus degree on Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation, Industrial Engineering, or related fields is preferred.

    Experience and Skills

    Required:

    • A minimum of 5 years of work experience in facilities automation, control systems design, and project management.
    • Strong hands-on experience with SCADA systems, Wonderware InTouch, PLC programming (Allen Bradley & Siemens), Oracle Database, and SQL.
    • Knowledge of utilities and facilities equipment such as chillers, VFDs, boilers, compressors, and emergency power systems.
    • Experience with control system upgrades, system integration, and troubleshooting.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
    • Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
    • Knowledge of relevant standards and compliance requirements including local regulations.
    • Bilingual (English and Spanish)

    Preferred:

    • Experience using Power Platform Tools (Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps)
    • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry
    • Experience in Commissioning and Qualification as well as Computer Validation Systems
    • PE license
    • Black, Green, or Yellow Belt certification or training.
    • Familiarity with digital transformation initiatives in FM, including network design, IoT, smart buildings, or digital twins.
    • Proficiency in program governance tools and systems modeling (e.g., asset management platforms, CMMS, capital planning tools).
    • Knowledge of regulatory compliance, energy standards, and sustainability frameworks (e.g., LEED, ISO 50001, ASHRAE standards).

    Other:

    • This position may require up to a 10% of domestic and/or international travel as well as working extended hours and might be required to work on holidays and weekends as business needs.
