    Job Description

    The Parent Advocate III provides parent enagement activities to Head Start/Early Head Start families that support the Parent, Family, Community Engagement Framework, and will use agency standards to ensure that services provided are in alignment with the Social Determinants of Health through a trauma informed care lens as defined by the agency.   Promotes family outcomes that enhance the family well-being, positive parent-child relationships, families as lifelong educators, families as learners, family engagement in transitions, family connections to peer and community, and families as advocates and leaders.  Provides strengths-based case management services and utilize parent engagement and leadership strategies for identified high-needs families. Works with agency staff in the development, implementation, and coordination of the ERSEA activities: eligibility, recruitment, selection, enrollment, and attendance of Early Head Start /Head Start participants.  Supports the monitoring, analysis and reporting of ERSEA data, ensuring all Head Start/Early Head Start services are in compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards, the Head Start Act, Licensing Minimum Standards, and agency policies and procedures; and assists in the blending of administration and program to promote maximum efficiency of service delivery within Head Start/Early Head Start programming

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    1.    Bachelor’s or advanced degree in a social services related field; and at least one year experience in delivering social services to vulnerable families. Knowledge of Early Childhood Development preffered.

     

    2.    Understands cultural differences and is sensitive to the implications of culture for service delivery; and able to utilize various learning techniques in the successful delivery of Family and Community Support Services.

     

    3.    Familiarity and competency with ChildPlus, modern office equipment, software and computer systems; familiar with and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Operating Systems (word, excel, powerpoint, etc.), word processing, spreadsheets and databases; and understanding of database systems and their utilization.

     

    4.    Must be knowladbable of Head Start Performance Standards, Head Start Act, Council of Accreditation, and Texas Department of Family Protective Services Minimum Rules and Standards.

     

    5.    Demostrated knowledge of agency and community resources and services, understands cultural differences and is sensitive to the implications of culture for service delivery; and familiar with family dynamics.

     

    6.    A parent of a current or former participant in a Head Start program, preferred.

     

    7.    Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certification.

     

    8.    Family Service Worker Credential, preferred.

     

    9.    Experience working with children 0-5 years old and their families.  

     

    Fluent in English and Spanish (read, write, and speak) desirable
