Heres What Youll Work On: Hydrogels are one of the most common classes of biomaterials for local drug delivery. They serve a variety of functions including controlled drug release, bio-compatibility enhancers, chemical stabilizers, and structural scaffolds. This internship will study formulation strategies for hydrogel systems of both large and small molecules by focusing on two main goals: Hydrogel Development: Materials selection, development, and evaluation Formulation optimization of different hydrogel classes Evaluate the mechanical behavior of each hydrogel platform Drug Delivery Characterization: In vitro experimental design and release testing Evaluation of hybrid system drug release, including hydrogels, mixed hydrogels, and hydrogel-particulate systems In this work, you will employ a variety of characterization techniques, such as: Rheology TGA, DSC, FTIR and particle size characterization HPLC, UHPLC, LC/MS and dissolution tests Our Ideal Candidate Will Have: Hands-on experience in polymer characterization (hydrogel experience is a plus) Familiar with the characterization of particulate systems such as micelles, microparticles, and nanoparticles Familiar with in vitro release test and HPLC analysis BS degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related fields
