    The FOLLOW UP SPECIALIST, with a specialty in Follow up Collection ensures all assigned accounts are reviewed and resolved and all third party payer sources remit payment in a timely manner.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Perform daily, systematic reviews of unpaid, underpaid and denied accounts from the appropriate third party payer source, ensuring that all assigned accounts are paid or resolved in a timely manner
    • Ensure all payer contact is fully documented in the appropriate software application
    • Monitor payments for accuracy and timeliness, contacting payers to resolve outstanding amounts and reporting ongoing problems and issues to the unit supervisor
    • Ensure claims are crossed over to secondary insurances, reporting any delay in unbilled secondary claims to the unit supervisor
    • Utilize Government and Commercial, and regulatory guidelines for collection of outstanding accounts
    • Provide cash management team missing payment investigation results
    • Keep current with industry standards and regulations
    • Provide individual contribution to the overall team effort of achieving the department AR goal
    • Identify opportunities for system and process improvement and submit to management

  • Qualifications

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High School Diploma / GED (or higher)
    • 1+ year of experience in hospital (UB04, CMS), billing and / or follow up required
    • Basic knowledge of medical terminology
    • Basic experience and knowledge of PC applications, including Microsoft Office Suite: Microsoft Excel (ability to sort / filter), Microsoft PowerPoint (ability to create, edit, save, and send presentations), Microsoft Word (ability to create, edit, save, and send documents) and Microsoft Outlook (email and calendar management)
