Student Intern - Accounting/Finance PURPOSE AND SCOPE****: As an intern with Fresenius Medical Care, a student will apply classroom based knowledge to workplace experience and will benefit from learning experiences in their major area of study. Supports FMCNAs mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy. Adheres to the FMCNA Compliance Program, including following all regulatory and division/company policy requirements. DUTIES / ACTIVITIES: 1. Learn to perform SOX cycle tasks on an annual cycle and review SOX narratives with business process owners as assigned, and update accordingly; perform testing as assigned; work with business process owners to develop remediation plans; monitor implementation of new or changed SOX controls. 2. Review compliance to policy and procedure as established by Division Management and Corporate Management and Compliance. 3. Monitor standardized internal controls. 4. Perform routine process reviews and operational checklist audits, recommend improvements and identify deficiencies. 5. Ensures compliance to current established FMS policies and procedures through routine reviews focusing on the operations at FMS Division and through collaboration with the billing groups and financial centers. Summarizes findings and recommendations. Follows up with appropriate personnel ensure corrective actions are taken to address issues identified. 6. Provide training and assistance to client groups and Internal Control staff related to control environment, SOX documentation and adherence to policies and procedures. 7. Maintains current knowledge of new applicable laws and regulations that apply to the accounting function and healthcare industry, ensuring the appropriate application of these in assigned tasks. 8. Completes special projects and other duties as assigned by management __ CUSTOMER SERVICE****: * Responsible for driving the FMCNA culture through values and customer service standards. * Accountable for outstanding customer service to all external and internal customers. * Develops and maintains effective relationships through effective and timely communication. * Takes initiative and action to respond, resolve and follow up regarding customer service issues with all customers in a timely manner.
