Pharmacy Technicians support and assist Pharmacists in distributive functions servicing various age-specific populations. Follows established policies and procedures under the supervision of a Pharmacist. Responsibilities Delivers appropriate quality service to patients and organization. Fills orders and completes appropriate documentation. Inspects emergency crash carts for expired, proper levels and storage of drugs. Makes scheduled rounds and as requested by Pharmacist on duty. Delivers items to correct patient care area. Rotates stock. Communicates messages properly and accurately. Reorders needed items in appropriate manner . Creates monthly reports if needed. Updates reference materials. Compounds products according to approved instructions. Labels finished products fully with ingredient names and amounts. Calculates dosage/diluents for age-specific groups for each product prepared. Properly prepares filtered medications, reconstituted powders, antibiotics, and TPNs. Labels IVs correctly for stability/expiration date and initials for accountability. Properly disposes of needles/syringes, medications, glass, and chemotherapy. Knows major functions of the IV room and components of IV hoods and their proper maintenance requirements. Assists with additional projects on a regular basis. Stays up to date with department changes. Qualifications Must have successfully completed an Indiana Board of Pharmacy accredited Pharmacy Technician training course and be certified as a Pharmacy Technician by the Indiana Board of Pharmacy. Knowledge of various types of office equipment including FAX machine, copy machine, calculator, word processor and different computer applications. Pharmacy-computer experience preferred. Must be self-directed, motivated and have good communication skills. At least 1 years pharmacy experience. Knowledge of drug names, strengths, dosing and routes of administration.
