Description Harbor is currently seeking a currently competent non-licensed mental health provider who provides support, education, referral linkage and network services to youth and adults experiencing a severe and persistent mental illness and/or problems with substance use. The primary emphasis is utilizing CPST and Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS) interventions to assist clients in obtaining benefits for which they may be eligible. This is a full time position that will require at least 1 evening per week. Provides CPST and TBS services to assist clients with mental health and/or substance use disorders in applying for government benefits for which they may be eligible. Provides AOD case management services, under the supervision of the AOD supervisor, to assist AOD enrolled clients with navigating and obtaining financial benefits. Provides CPST/TBS, and case management services as assessed and defined in the ISP throughout the entire benefit process (eligibility, application, and final determination). Coordinates services with other agencies to ensure clients receive the maximum benefits for which they are eligible. Participates in the development and implementation of the Individual Service Plan (ISP) for referred clients and revises the ISP according to the clients responses and needs. Follows crisis prevention/intervention protocols. Assists clients in identifying and addressing barriers toward self-independence. Provides support, education and consultation to clients, families, and/or significant others. Provides therapeutic interventions as noted in the ISP to maintain the client in the least-restrictive environment and to enhance client and family functioning. Monitors clients to identify and minimize effects of psychiatric symptoms. Provides referrals and linkages to state and federal agencies that may offer support services to our clients. Provides assistance in gaining access to essential community resources. Coordinates with staff, agencies, and community supports to assure continuity of services. Works effectively with CPSTs and AOD staff and other treatment team provides for care coordination and treatment planning. Responsible for the quality and completeness of the clinical record. Responsible for accurate and timely documentation which includes, but is not limited to: Activity/Progress Notes, Incident Report forms and any other forms necessary to document CPST services. Types clinical documentation in the format appropriate and acceptable to Harbor. In providing billable services, fulfills or exceeds unit expectations established by Harbor. SPECIAL WORK CONDITIONS Carries and responds to cell phone calls as part of general duties. Keeps current with trends and developments related to essential job competencies, and demonstrates continued growth. Demonstrates fundamental alcohol and other drug addiction, abuse, and recovery competencies, at a minimum, an understanding of alcohol and other drug treatment and recovery, how to engage a person in treatment and recovery and an understanding of other healthcare systems, social service systems and the criminal justice system. Requirements Minimum of High School diploma with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience programs. Bachelors degree in counseling, social work or closely related behavioral/mental health field from an accredited college or university preferred. Training for or education in mental health competencies, alcohol and other drug addiction, abuse, and recovery. Knowledge of welfare reform and experience working with older adolescents and adults required. Must be knowledgeable of community resources related to acquisition and maintenance of benefits inlcuding JFS, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and other state benefits. Must successfully complete required training, before services are rendered, in basic competencies including, at a minimum, an understanding of mental illness or substance use disorder treatment and recovery, psychiatric and substance use disorder symptoms and their impact on functioning and behavior; how to therapeutically engage a person with mental illness or a person in substance use disorder treatment and recovery;; crisis response procedures; an understanding of the community behavioral health system, social service systems, criminal justice system and other healthcare systems; de-escalation techniques and understanding how your own behavior can impact the behavior of others. Must successfully demonstrate the basic competencies listed above, as determined by your supervisors review, within 90 days of hire. Must be proficient and accurate in computer use, including Microsoft Word. Must have valid Drivers license, acceptable driving record, and be deemed insurable through Harbors vehicle insurance carrier. CPR/First Aid and NCI/CPI Certifications required within 90 days of employment.
