    Community Organizer Job Overview Prevention & Aftercare (P&A) is a comprehensive child maltreatment prevention and aftercare program. P&A utilized strength-based community services and activities to strengthen families. The Community Organizer will develop and coordinate child abuse and mental illness prevention networks throughout SPA 3 to have a continuum of care for vulnerable families in our shared communities. Key Responsibilities Responsible for attending and taking a leadership role in provider network collaborative meetings across San Gabriel Valley Focus on collaborations that support child maltreatment prevention and family strengthening services. Responsible for providing leadership to organize community networks and promote P&A activities and services throughout the networks. Conduct high level outreach and engagement of stakeholders, develop partnerships, and collaborations. Responsible for conducting presentations of P&A program and services to community groups. Organize networks of providers and develop and system for continuum of care across agencies. Will maintain significant interaction with service providers and county agencies, such as DCFS, DMH, DPH, Probation, Police Departments, School Districts, Health Care, and community groups. Responsible for promotion and recruitment of community-based Volunteer Cultural Brokers. Provide advocacy for vulnerable families and address disparity and disproportionality of high-risk populations. Responsible for ensuring that all interactions are client-centered, trauma informed, and culturally relevant. Responsible for maintenance of contact list of partners and providers. Responsible for maintaining documentation of networks, goals, and plans. Ensure that all documentation is completed in a timely and accurate manner. Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Bachelors degree required Minimum 3 years providing community-based services, community engagement, and/or high level organizational skills. Two years experience (or life experience) working with the DCFS child protective services system Excellent communications skills (written and oral) Excellent ability to work with a wide variety of people Strong organizational skills Should be significantly involved in the communities you serve.
